It was perfect in almost every way....except one. It didn't have scissors. That was my criticism in my Jul 2008 review video of the otherwise awesome little Leatherman Squirt. It served me with distinction then and became a cherished wingman in my everyday life. Like they sometimes do (and I am glad for it), it has since been retired for the line by Leatherman. But fret not because these new Squirt PS4 and ES4 versions have a major improvement: scissors! They are tiny and precise, reminding me of the also-excellent Swiss Army Classic scissors. These little snips come in handy for a huge variety of everyday tasks; I've even used mine for first aid jobs where they snipped ripped skin away without causing pain. But with these scissors you will lose the impressive little awl (I also call it a punch) and the tiny screwdriver that rode in the previous Squirt. It's a good tradeoff and as I discussed in my vid "Multi-tool Continuum" the designs always call for compromise. Other tools remain unchanged and they function well: file, 420HC flat ground knife blade (still hate the chisel grind they do), Phillips driver, and medium sized flat blade driver. The pliers of the PS4 are unchanged and that is good because for their size, they rock. The Squirts pliers are strong for their size and the jaws close with precision. The provide almost tweezer-like extraction and knot untying capabilities. The ES4 version has precise wire strippers that work and both version have light duty wire ...

Pressure washers are used in many homes and a large variety of businesses for many reasons. If you have decided that you need a pressure washer, for whatever reason, you have made your first decision. Your next decision will be what type of washer is best for you. There are many different kinds of pressure washers, they can have different power sources (electric, gasoline, diesel or natural gas); different powers, often designated as residential or professional, ranging anywhere from 1000 to 6000+ psi; different sizes, from portable to on wheels that you pull, to large ones that are mounted on a trailer or in the back of a truck, or you can even get pressure washers that are mounted on a wall; finally, you can get one based on the type of water that they use, hot or cold.

Though there is a lot that can be said about any of these different types of machines, today let's just take a look at cold and hot pressure washers, their pros and cons, to help you decide which type will work best. From there you can go on to look at different power sources and sizes when you take the next step in your decision process.

First let's look at cold water pressure washers. Cold washers can either have a tank to carry water or can be hooked up to a regular hose. This means that they can be smaller than hot water washers, and also that they start at a lower price point. These are great for around the home use, things like cleaning vehicles, siding, decks etc. They easily remove dirt and grime, much better than using a standard hose with just a nozzle.

As you can guess, hot water pressure washers are heavier and larger than cold water ones. This is because the machine has to have a tank and a burner to heat the water before it is used. Many hot water machines come on a cart, but there are also large, industrial sized ones as well. The primary reason you would want a hot water pressure washer is because it cleans better, especially any type of grease. You don't wash greasy pans in cold water. No matter how much soap you use, the grease stays. Hot water helps to break down the grease and wash it away. So if you are going to have to clean any grease or oil based products, then you need a hot water unit. Another nice thing about hot water units is that you usually have the option of running cold water instead, which can save on the extra gas needed to heat the water.

Basically, the pros of cold pressure washers are that they can be portable and lighter since they do not have to have water tanks, and they are great for removing every day grime and dirt. And in general they are less expensive. The primary con of the cold, is that they do not clean oil based stains or spills. Therefore, the obvious pro of hot pressure washers is that they have a wider range of cleaning capabilities. The cons are that they are often larger, heavier and more expensive.

So it really comes down to what you need to clean, if you are cleaning a garage floor where you do mechanical work, then you need a hot unit. If you are doing basic grime removal around the house, a cold unit will work. If you are a business, do the same type of evaluation. Once you know whether hot or cold water pressure washers will work best for you, then you can delve into your other options.

I have been watching many other EDC and urban survival videos over the last few weeks, and i thought that I would put mine up for comments and suggestions. This video had to be split into four parts since I have not earned the higher limit yet. I carry all of these items every day, except what is noted in the video. I also have an additional bag of other items in my truck, but that is not covered here. During the storm season here, I add some supplies to my vehicle in case i get caught away from home...including 7 gallons of potable water and 100 gallons of diesel fuel (for the truck)... The attraction to the tactical folding knife is that it is extremely popular with military, law enforcement and first responders of all types. This type of knife is called into emergency action hundreds of times a year and is used for cutting rope, cutting seat belts, and in some cases self defense in more extraordinary cases.

If you are a person that carries a pocket knife or tactical folding knife on a daily basis you will want to do your due diligence to guarantee yourself that the knife that you will be purchasing is a quality tactical knife. When you are considering purchasing a quality tactical knife there are some things you should be aware of. Here are 7 things you should look for before buying a tactical folding knife.

1. High quality steel. Steels like S30V, VG10 and 154CM offer a tactical folding knife more durability and superior edge holding ability. This is a major factor in picking a quality tactical folder.

2. The locking mechanism should be the most durable and positive that you can find. This is for your safety! The lock should be positive and not allow in any way the blade to fold up on your hand. Your standard locks are liner locks, mid locks, and back locks. There are others. Do your research.

3. Your carry method is important! Today' s tactical folding knives come with a pocket clip. This is the easiest way to deploy and execute the use of your knife. Make sure that you can switch your pocket clip from right to left for ease of carry and so that you can use your other hand if the first one is out of commission for awhile.

4. How heavy do you want your tactical folding knife to be? Weight is an important consideration. The lighter the knife the easier it is to carry in many situations. Be aware that in many cases the lighter the knife is can compromise the toughness of the knife to.

5. The frame of the knife is another consideration. You can buy a tactical knife with a titanium frame or a steel frame which goes back to the weight of the knife. Along with what type of frame the knife has, what kind of handle material do you want? Polycarbonate? G-10? Aluminum? These are important issues that go toward the toughness of the knife you buy.

6. How will you open your tactical folding knife? Some one hand openers come with thumb studs and some come with a hold in the blade, and yet others come with accouterments that allow you to catch the lip of your pant pocket and pull back and the knife will open. Some one hand openers can also come with a "flipper" on the underside of the knife that allows you to use your index finger to "flip" the knife open.

7. Do you want your tactical folding knife to be a manual opener in which you use your thumb on a stud or hole or "flipper" to flick the blade open or do you want your tactical folder to be an assisted opener in which you start to open the blade and then a spring takes over to finish opening the blade for you?

There are other considerations to make when looking to buy a tactical folding knife. One thing I do want to say is that quality counts. Do not settle for something because it is cheap! You cannot get a quality one hand tactical folding knife for twenty bucks in this world or any other. Always buy the best you can afford and if you have to save up to buy quality, then do it. In the long run you will be happier.
